Component and Board-Level Repair

    What We Fix

We replace failed components and repair faults on the board itself, so devices go back to work instead of being replaced.

    Laptops
    Desktops
    Tablets
    Phones

    The brands we repair:

    • Dell
    • HP
    • Lenovo
    • Apple
    • Microsoft Surface

    Screens

Cracked glass, dead or flickering panels and failed backlights are repaired or replaced, so a broken screen does not sideline an otherwise working laptop, tablet or phone.

    Keyboards

Worn, sticking, missing or unresponsive keys are corrected by repairing or replacing the keyboard, so a laptop with one bad row of keys stays with its user.

    Batteries

Batteries that no longer hold a charge, drain quickly or have swollen are replaced, and charging is checked afterward so the device runs unplugged again.

    Hinges

Loose, stiff or broken hinges are repaired or replaced so the lid opens and closes as it should, before a failing hinge cracks the case or pulls the display cable loose.

    Ports

Charging and data ports that have worked loose, bent or stopped responding are repaired or replaced on the board, so the device charges and connects without a workaround.

    Motherboards

Faults on the motherboard itself, from a device that will not power on to one that restarts or shuts down on its own, are traced to the board and repaired there.

    Deliverables

    What Comes Back to You

The devices you send in are the devices you get back, so your asset records and user assignments stay as they were. Each one returns repaired and tested.

Refurbishing is separate from repair and is done only where your scope asks for it.

    Back From Repair

    • The same devices you sent in
    • Each one repaired and tested
    • Returned to the address agreed at the start
    • Upgrades or refurbishing only where agreed

    Who It Is For

When Repair Is the Right Fit

A Repair Backlog in the IT Department

For corporate offices and IT departments whose failed devices wait for attention. Sending that backlog to us clears it without pulling your own staff onto repair work.

A Fleet Past Its Manufacturer Coverage

For schools, colleges, healthcare practices and government offices that keep devices in service after manufacturer coverage ends. Repair keeps that fleet working instead of forcing an early replacement.

Devices Short on Memory or Drive Space

For devices that run slowly but are otherwise sound, short on memory or drive space rather than faulty. Upgrading and refurbishing them is an alternative to replacement while the hardware still does the job.

    Refurbishing

    Testing, Grading and Refurbishing

Refurbishing prepares a device for its next user, whether it came in with a fault or for an upgrade.

    Diagnostics

Every device we refurbish goes through diagnostics, including units sent in for upgrades with no fault reported. Any fault found is reported to you by email and repaired as agreed before the device goes back into service.

    Grading and Cleaning

Each unit is cosmetically graded and cleaned. The grade records its condition, which you can use when deciding who gets it next, and cleaning means it can be handed over as soon as it arrives.

    RAM and SSD Upgrades

Memory and drive capacity are brought up to the specification you need, so capable hardware keeps up with the software your users run. The same specification can be applied to every unit in a batch.

    Genuine Windows

As an Authorized Microsoft Refurbisher, we reload the PCs we refurbish with genuine Windows. Each PC comes back with a clean installation, ready for your own configuration before it reaches a user.

    For Business Fleets

    Fleet Repair Programs

A repair program is for the devices your business is using; devices being retired go through IT asset disposition (ITAD) instead. The three names below describe that work by where it is done, when it is requested and which devices qualify.

Program When it applies What happens
Depot repair Devices in use, sent in on a schedule you set, in batches or one at a time Repaired at component or board level and returned to you
Break-fix A device has failed and is sent in when the fault appears rather than on a schedule Repaired and returned to you
Out-of-warranty repair Manufacturer coverage has ended Repaired at component or board level so a failed part does not retire the device

    How It Works

    How a Repair Job Runs

    1. 1

      Send In

Once the scope is agreed by email, you ship the devices to us, in a batch or one at a time as faults appear.

    2. 2

      Diagnose

Each device is tested to find the fault, starting from the symptoms you reported. The diagnosis tells us which component or board-level repair is needed.

    3. 3

      Repair and Test

We replace the failed component or carry out the board-level repair, then test the device again to confirm the fault is gone before it goes back.

    4. 4

      Return

The device comes back to the return address agreed at the start, fixed and ready to hand to its user. Any upgrades or refurbishing you asked for are done before it ships.

    How to Prepare

    Before You Send Devices In

A short email covering the points below lets us agree the scope before anything ships.

    • List the device models and the fault on each
    • Say whether one device or a batch is coming
    • Name the program: depot repair, break-fix or out-of-warranty repair
    • Specify any RAM or SSD upgrades
    • Say if you want grading, cleaning or a Windows reload on PCs
    • Give the return address
    • Wait for our confirmation by email before shipping

    Questions

    Repair Questions Answered

What is the difference between repair and refurbishing?

A repair fixes the fault a device came in with, such as a cracked screen, a dead battery or a board that will not power on. Refurbishing covers the whole device rather than a single fault, with upgrades where you specify them.

Can you refurbish or upgrade working devices that have no fault?

Yes. Refurbishing does not depend on a fault. A batch of working laptops can come in for upgrades, grading and cleaning before it is redeployed, with the specification you want agreed by email first.

Can one batch mix brands and device types?

Yes. One batch can mix any of the five brands and four device types we repair. Each device in it is diagnosed and repaired on its own.

What happens if a device cannot be repaired?

We tell you by email before anything else is done, and you decide what happens next. The device can come back to you as it is, or it can retire through ITAD, where its data is wiped and it is reported by serial number.

Do you repair tablets and phones at board level, or only laptops?

Component and board-level repair covers all four device types, not only laptops. Screen, battery, port and motherboard faults on tablets and phones are handled the same way as they are on laptops.

Do repaired devices come back to us or to the user?

They come back to the return address agreed when the scope was set. If you want them to go straight to the people who use them, our imaging and deployment service (see IT Services) ships them to your users or sites.
